How It Works: The Slice System

We don't use stars. We use slices—because the real question isn't "how good is it?" but "how many slices would you actually eat?"

1 Slice - Regrettable

You took one bite and immediately regretted your life choices.

2 slices
2 Slices - Barely Tolerable

You'll finish two out of obligation, but you're not happy about it.

3 slices
3 Slices - Acceptable

It's food. It does the job. You won't remember it tomorrow.

4 slices
4 Slices - Decent

Not bad. You'd eat this again if it was on sale.

5 slices
5 Slices - Pretty Good

Solid pizza. You're satisfied and would buy this again.

6 slices
6 Slices - Really Good

This is quality frozen pizza. You're going back for more.

7 Slices - Excellent

You're eating almost the whole thing and considering buying extra next time.

8 slices
8 Slices - The Whole Pizza

Outstanding. You're finishing every slice and wishing you had another one ready.

Each pizza gets rated on four criteria: Crust, Sauce, Cheese, and Toppings. The overall rating averages these scores.

Our Integrity Rules

Rating integrity
  • No paid placements. Brands cannot buy their way to the top of our rankings.
  • No sponsored reviews. All ratings come from the community, not from us.
  • Transparent averages. You see exactly how many people rated each pizza.
  • Minimum threshold. Pizzas need at least 10 ratings to appear on leaderboards (prevents gaming with single ratings).
  • Affiliate disclosure. We earn small commissions from Amazon/Instacart links if you buy. This doesn't affect rankings—ever.

Why This Exists

Frozen pizza packaging lies. That crispy, golden-brown pizza on the box? Not what comes out of your oven. The generous toppings? Sparse at best. The "restaurant quality" promise? Rarely delivered.

The Dough Down exists to give you the truth before you buy. Real ratings from real people cooking frozen pizza in real ovens—not paid placements, not sponsored reviews, just honest assessments measured by the slice.
